Agronomist and Seedtician Cde Wendy Matashu Madzura says employing good agronomic practices is crucial for the farming business.
This she said during her tour of the Sherwood block wheat crop which is at various stages.
Over 700 hectares of SC NDUNA was established at Sherwood block in Kwekwe, Midlands Province for the 2021 winter wheat farming season with the oldest crop ready for harvest.
“Farming is a business. You need to start right.
Farming is a timely operation. You need to employ good agronomic practice,” said Cde Madzura.
Some of the management tips she shared on her Twitter page @WendyMadzura were that “quelea birds are a huge challenge in wheat production. Spray bird repellents, employ bird scaring techniques and engage national Parks for assistance.”
