ZANU PF Secretary for Administration Cde Obert Mpofu has described the late Cde Jane Lungile Ngwenya who was laid to rest at the National Heroes Acre recently.
The late Cde Ngwenya fought for racial justice against the white minority in Rhodesia, joining the National Democratic Party of Zimbabwe in 1960 and later served as the first woman executive of the Zimbabwe African People’s Union (ZAPU).
“Comrades, we honour our gallant revolutionary luminary Cde Jane Lungile Ngwenya who was conferred with the National Heroes status and was interred at the National shrine this past week. Her illustrious political life, exhibited a rare selfless dedication to the struggle by a woman cadre, in the mould of the other women fighters like Ambuya Nehanda,” Cde Mpofu said.
“Aptly, the recently concluded Heroes and Defence Forces day buttressed the importance of honouring our departed dedicated heroes and brave professional defence forces who daily defend our motherland. I request at this moment that we all rise and pay our last respect to our national hero.
