ZANU PF Secretary for Administration Cde Obert Mpofu has encouraged the public to continue exercising caution and adhering to the covid-19 lockdown measures.
He said this during the Policy and Coordination Meeting held at the Party Headquarters this Monday morning.
The pandemic continues to wreck havoc despite numerous attempts to alleviate the situation with great emphasis on vaccination to achieve herd immunity.
“Comrades the Covid-19 pandemic is still upon us and continues ravage our communities. Though the death rate declining, this does not guarantee that we are out of the doldrums as some of our key Party cadres are succumbing to this deadly virus,” Cde Mpofu said.
“Sadly, we witnessed the passing on of our dedicated Party loving cadre, the Honourable Member of Parliament for Tsholotsho South, Cde Zenzo Sibanda who was interred on Sunday 15 August 2021.”
Cde Mpofu noted that it is pleasing to note the continued uptake of the vaccination.
“We are also made to understand that the mutation of the virus will continue and new variants will emerge as per social media, we can only rely on scientific well informed guidance. The recent extension of the level 4 lockdown measures for another two weeks should be complied with as non-adherence is not an option.
“The continued numbers of people being vaccinated is a good indication that we will gradually attain national herd immunity. As a Party and government, we should also support the capacitation of the new oxygen factor in Mutare as this will mitigate possible curative implications to the covid-19 pandemic.”
