AGRICULTURE SECTOR TO GROW BY 34 PERCENT: PRESIDENT MNANGAGWA

Zimbabwe’s agriculture sector has been forecasted to grow by at least 30 percent.

This was said by President and First Secretary of ZANU PF Cde E.D Mnangagwa during his address at the 41st Heroes celebrations. The country celebrates the heroes and heroines who died to liberate the Zimbabwe from the white settler regime through the barrel of the gun.

Zimbabwe being an agrarian state has ensured that a lot of investment into the agricultural sector be done especially after the Land Reform Programme which saw many landless black majority become land owners having previously been dispossessed by the colonizer. Programmes such as the Presidential Input Support Scheme, John Deere mechanisation programmes, livestock support schemes have ensured that the black people realize their maximum potential and this has seen a boom in the industry with yields surpassing those previously recorded.

“At the centre of this positive performance is the agriculture sector which is expected to grow by a remarkable 34 %. Government will support this positive performance towards guaranteeing sustainable livelihoods and dignity to our people through the implementation of the various programmes under the Agriculture Recovery Growth Plan,” President Mnangagwa said.

“We will indeed honour the sacrifices made by our heroes and heroines for the land through the optimal utilization of this sacred, infinite resource. On the back of the bumper harvest, the prevailing macro-economic stability, localization of value chains and uninterrupted power supply, has seen the rebound of the manufacturing sector. These developments place our mordenisation and industrialization agenda on a firm footing.”
